Effect of the use of nutraceuticals in the rabbit's diet on physiological, endocrinological, reproductive and productive aspects

According to the One Welfare concept, the well-being of animals, humans, and the environment are interconnected. This line of research aims to investigate the use of nutraceuticals in rabbit diets by examining their effects on various physiological processes, including energy homeostasis, reproductive physiology, and immune response, as well as the quality and quantity of the production. The research projects employ substances derived from plants and animals that are rich in bioactive compounds, such as omega-3, polyphenols, and immunoglobulins. These substances offer various health benefits due to their antioxidant and/or immunomodulatory properties. Therefore, this research line is primarily focused on animal welfare while also acknowledging the positive effects that the development of high-quality animal-based products could have on farm profitability and human health. The approach is multidisciplinary and involves different scientific sectors.
