Socio-ecological management of new marine species, indigenous and alien, of commercial interest.
The research activity is mainly focused on the culturomics management of new marine species of commercial interest, with particular regard to invasive species (NIS- Non Indigenous Species)the study of containment strategies through their use in human and animal nutrition and the evaluation of socio-ecological aspects.
The activities carried out concern in particular:
- nutritional characterisation and promotion of their use in the food chain;
-study of their possible use in aquaculture,
-monitoring and studying the dynamics of alien species invasion and strategies for their containment through the involvement of operators in the sector.
- the assessment of the social and ecological effects of these species, particularly invasive ones, on coastal communities and on consumers through studies of Culturomics.
The research activity is supported by the realization of educational activities and dissemination events.
